Corvette Vagabond

1966 Corvette Roadster

My first Corvette was a 1961, I didn't think it was fast enough, so I put on a big Holley and blew up the car, complete with a spectacular fire. With the insurance money and a bank loan, I bought the '66 for $2,100 in 1970. It's the same car I drive today.

I bought the 1966 from a Navy pilot who was shipping out, it had 46,000 miles on the odometer, original factory tires (bald), no mods and a stock Milano Maroon, L-79 327/350, 4 speed, convertible. It looked like this in 1970:

I discovered his dress wings in the glove box and have saved them to this day.  Perhaps a lucky charm?
